Summary/Abstract: Fashion photography has its special place within photography domain, acting as a reply to the necessity of reflecting femininity towards society. It may seem an easy achievement, but due to its charming character, fashion photography earns the status of one of the most difficult photography genders. Thus, fashion photographers stay at the top of the branch, when it comes about respect, recognition and incomes. Judging from a historical point of view, fashion photography and the so called beauty and glamorous photographs have been considered to be a commercial practice. This is important when establishing that a beauty photography represents an actual commercial approach to sell various products. Glamour photography, on the other hand, has meant creating a special and specific atmosphere to enhance the perfection of the photographed subject which was often associated to movie stars and celebrities.

Summary/Abstract: Shortly after photography has been discovered, it was brought to Romania, where it became a genuine hobby for the aristocracy of the time. Not anyone could have practiced photographic art and not anyone could have had the luxury to have an immortalized image on a piece of paper. The Romanian reality has taken later on into consideration the art of photography. Although its discoverers (J. N. Niepce, 1765-1833 and Jaques-Mande Daguerre), had established it in France, it was only in 1842 when the invention was implemented in Brasov, as the first camera is bought in 1840 by the head of Eforie School, Petrache Poenaru, for the St. Sava College. Although it was a foreign property , it must be mentioned the first photographic laboratory at Podul Mogosoaiei in 1843 and later, the second one in 1845, that belonged to I. Pohlmann. It had that the monotone life with its daily pleasures or difficulties to be shocked by wars, so that the adventurous photographers to leave their idyllic home places and portraiture laboratories, in order to reveal to the society the brutal life and death realities in that period. So it starts the glorious epopee of war journalists that were present all over the war theaters, many of them sacrificing they own lives for the noble cause of showing the truth.

Summary/Abstract: The construction theme, constructed is the experiment to configure for me at the moment as a main concern. Latch occurred around Venice at Torcello where the museum stones showing the passing of Romans through the area had not only their age archaeological but some kind organic structure. I tried an association, a parallel between the multiplicity theory and my painting works representing bricks (adobe). We have shown that the whole bricks (the adobe) of my painting works (multiple) meet the message of one brick (one) assembling into a building. There should be an exploration courage, which I transfer to the construction theme, the creation, starting with the primary material –the ground. This includes also the internal construction theme of the human soul.

Summary/Abstract: The term sacred is seen primarily linked to religious art but, on the other hand the modernity can be religious or laic, but the laic modernity is very detached from sacred. In creating an art work of spiritual meanings there is a very interesting direction that includes abstract art that develops a kind of spirituality of art itself through the abstract language of art which he theorizes. Spiritual value is considered above representation of nature. Referring to contemporary is considered sacred art only the art related to religious and church.

Summary/Abstract: This paper draws a parallel between my painting work and those of Francisco de Zurbaran and Odilon Redon. For Francisco de Zurbaran austere style, dark and gloomy was a characteristic of the first period of his painting. Paintings background is dark and the bright points out forms. It creates a feeling of rough contours and colors are laid in large patches in highly contrasting chiaroscuro. So bricks (adobe) are presented as rough outlines on a dark background. In what concerns Odilon Redon it is about his works «Esprit de la Forêt» and «L'homme-cactus» showing similarities with my work.

Summary/Abstract: Suntem martorii unei reciclări a imaginilor trecutului. Astfel totul devine un uriaş palimpsest, lucrările apărând sub auspiciile unui work in progress.

Subject(s): Fine Arts / Performing Arts, Essay|Book Review |Scientific Life
Keywords: Stylistic behavior; semantic polyvalence; compositional structure; photographic assembly; succession; plastic module
Summary/Abstract: Current Art entails, individually, the manifestation of an extremely large stylistic availability, the creator in agreement with plurality, diversity and its (constant) temporal uniqueness, being able to accede to a stylistic configuration to which it resonates, revealing a stylistic behavior. Style has become a way of expressive adequacy to a certain message rather than an intrinsic purpose. As concerns photography, the moment of recording the image implies the encounter of two realities, two concerted universes that genuinely live at the level of the creator’s sensitive inwardness followed by the immortalized objective reality. Gravitationally polarizing underneath the empire of a formal or conceptual reflection, of a semantic adjoin that permits the transgression of common, “visible” aspects, the two worlds governed on one hand by the artistic life experience of the creator and on the other hand by the photographic referent, prove the natural existence of the adherence of the work of art to the author.

Keywords: Graphic art; engraving; school; exhibitions; artistic events; exhibition displays
Summary/Abstract: Graphic artists – particularly engravers, specialize in well-established centres which operate in the spirit of the local area and bring into their works these influences of the technical and spiritual environment in which they were formed. The era of solitude in art has passed, being ended by strong personalities who interact in workshops or in exhibition premises. In this way, an excellent communication environment is created, which does not lead to group adhesions for public success purposes, but ensures quality by stimulating creativity. The term of “graphic art” encompasses various techniques of expression, some with unique nature, others reproducible. So, also the exhibitions are specialized in drawing, engraving and graphic art displays, and generally all graphic artists have access to such events. The willingness to take part in certain exhibition displays influences the undertakings of artists in terms of technique, format and size of the pictures. In certain catalogues, rectangular pictures are at advantage, in other the square-shaped ones, or the monochromatic or polychromatic ones. Artists who regularly take part in such exhibition displays are well aware of these differences and adjust their work in order to create an image of themselves as good as possible in these prints which are published for each event.

The hybrid engraving obtained this way is situated far from any classification based on techniques, media or print, and becomes more interested in the capacity to articulate a powerful and convincing visual discourse, where technique is important, totally under control, but not transformed in a cult or fetish.

Summary/Abstract: In the next few pages, we intend to sketch the puzzle that defines the creations of the three Japanese designers who changed the western fashion world.Issey Miyake, Rei Kawakubo and Yohji Yamamoto - in the order of their appearance on the Parisian haute-couture scene - are by far the most influential names one can throw on the table when in a meaningful conversation on the subject of Japanese designers who conquered the West.These designers’ creations branded monochrome color pallets, overblown proportions, plaits, asymmetry and unisex styles. They introduced a new way of looking at texture, textiles, tailoring, color, silhouette and self-reflection, which triggered a complete esthetical and functional review of what clothing means. Kawakubo and Yamamoto’s fashion sets at the beginning of the ‘80s have signaled the climax of Japanese design’s impact on the Western esthetics of fashion and clothing, inside a journey that would go on for more than 30 years.

CONFLUENT INTERPRETATIVE SPEARHEADS IN DUO VOICE-PIANO

Language: English
Subject(s): Fine Arts / Performing Arts, Essay|Book Review |Scientific Life
Keywords: Duo; piano; voice; lied; chamber genre; musical form; interpretation; performance; artistic personality; musical text; literary text; subtext; approach
Summary/Abstract: The Lied, as a chamber music genre is perhaps the most complex and difficult form of music from both the point of view of the level of emotional involvement as well as of the affectivity level. Interpretation is a resultant fusion not only of literary text with the musical content but also of the merge between the two artistic personalities that form the duo, the pianist and the singer. The whole process from deciphering the musical text and literary meanings up to the final act of interpretation itself has a wellestablished trajectory with precise coordinates and if this process suffers any alteration, shall invalidate the minimum requirements of the standard of performance. Having regard that musical interpretation is an art and a discipline at the same time, of such complexity and with an extremely high standard for effort required, subjects which work in this field and reach a high level of performance are prone to have a very strong will and desire, doubled in conditions of public exposure by a high level of self-discipline. These individuals build the act of interpretation following always as well as the literary text and musical one but also having as a permanent support and guide its own emotional capability. The passing through the personal emotional filters, the vast array of feelings display dictated by the content of written score, the appeal to emotional memory of the interpreter with the exercises for mastering the exteriorization of different degrees of sensibility, are methods extremely effective in building the interpretation act.
THE ARCHITECTURAL FORM OF THE ROMANIAN FOLK SONG
Author(s): Eugen Petre Sandu – Craiova University
Language: English
Subject(s): Fine Arts / Performing Arts, Essay|Book Review |Scientific Life
Keywords: architectural form; folklore; creation
Summary/Abstract: The result of the process of generating and coordinating the elements of music creation in a homogenous whole is the architectural form. The reality obtained is complex, defined by the interactions between the whole and the parts: means of expression and architectural elements. By applying the principles of construction: repetition, variation, contrast, one can reach the order governing the sound material. For folklore, the variational principle is accompanied by the principle of simultaneity of creation with interpretation, gaining specific notes: variations from one melodic stanza to another, from one performance to another, from one performer to another, expression through variants (updated forms of tradition). The creative process in folklore is open through collective participation and oral transmission: in addition, the function marks the content, in the means of expression and configuration of form elements.

Keywords: lied; unspreadable unit; text-music priority; significance; semiosis; sign; significant; representamen; object; poetry versus music
Summary/Abstract: As a poetic-musical phenomenon, the lied is the origin, the seed of all significant lyric-poetic musical forms. The lied might also be the root of the multitude of forms, constructions of the western music from the first appearance of the song lyrics up to the present.The lied itself is a whole formed of words and sounds, sung poetry, a melody connected by words. The question is whether one of the two forms of art or artistic manifestation is a priority or if in the lied the literary and the musical text are structured in an unspreadable unit. The article is an incursion in the universe of sung poetry and brings arguments related to the equal importance of music and poetry in the lied, but especially the importance of the close relation between these two.

Summary/Abstract: Niccolo Paganini, the composer who revolutionized violin playing, was also a passionate guitarist, having created many works for this instrument. The goal of this research is to prove that these compositions, although often times frustratingly simple, can be included in the concert repertoire of modern guitar players alongside musical works of famous composers of the same period, such as Luigi Legnani or Mauro Giuliani, if the interpreter deeply understands their musical essence and takes certain liberties with the musical text, in regard to improvisation, ornamentation and timbral effects.

Language: English
Subject(s): Fine Arts / Performing Arts, Essay|Book Review |Scientific Life
Keywords: old music; nation; nationalism; Italy; Vivaldi; Torchi
Summary/Abstract: Taking the example of Italy, the article discusses the close relationship between the “rediscovery” of the musical past and the search for a national identity starting with the late nineteenth century. This connection according to the thesis of the article led to the formation of a true historical and musical construct; that of the so-called “old music”. A very selective review of past eras of music crystallized: past has been rewritten to form the nation. But precisely this bias, strange to us today, of historical and musical literature was the one that made it possible to adapt the discourse about music to the cultural policy problems of the young Italian national state. From liberal Italy until including fascism, the construct functioned continuously without verification. Only when the existing national self-view was obliterated by the moral and political decay of fascism was the historical and musical construct canceled, and the past was released from the too manifest spirit of the nation.

We cannot speak of the musical mass and elude the liturgical mass, of which the former is born and becomes legitimate by intertwining the semantics of sacred texts with musical expressiveness. In this article I wish to highlight a certain type of thinking, of mentality in synthetic examples, reflected in a differentiated manner by the eight cultural epochs or styles of music mentioned: the Middle Ages, Ars antiqua, Ars nova, the Renaissance, Baroque, Classicism, Romanticism and the 20th Century. Both the moments when the sacral comment invokes the presence of the mass, and when it does not, shall be distinguished.

The second, which is distinguished by its uniqueness, is a cycle of twelve lieder composed on texts by Alfred Kerr, and is a testament to the author’s struggle with the publishing industry, to strengthen the position of the musician in society and to defend the rights of composers.

Keywords: art; education; experiment; creativity; high-school
Summary/Abstract: The experimental pedagogy of the Art High-School Timișoara is defined through the viewpoints of former learners who have become notable characters in the domain of architecture, design or art. Thus, the art high-school can be defined as a state of mind, generating a way to perceive the world, a lesson of liberty and assumption, a model of communication and collaboration with others in interdisciplinary projects. The exceptionality of this pedagogy has created a break with the educational and social context of the moment. The study is based on a complex documentary material, interviews and correspondence with the former graduates of this high-school.

Subject(s): Fine Arts / Performing Arts, Essay|Book Review |Scientific Life
Keywords: Artistic graphics; motive of creation; creativity; European artists; abstract graphics; visual messages
Summary/Abstract: The current artistic graphics has its inexhaustible character, where the final judgments are not possible. The modes of abstract graphics creation are subordinated to the diffuse sensitivity from the reality of the contemporary time and to the dynamics of technical and technological development in the field. Free of any conventions and prejudices, the graphic artist learns to use the unexpected and unplanned effects that occur in a work in progress in order to allow the occurrence of a dialog between him and his creation, interaction which continues as the work progresses. In the current expression, the artists have the possibility to choose from the thirty engraving techniques and their combination, choosing for the technique appropriate to transpose their spiritual concerns in multiplicable material. In order to have a greater optical effect on the viewer, I conceived my drawings modular, with the possibility of their combining in different ample compositions, with high potential of spatial organization.

Keywords: post-paradise; kitsch; infantile;paradise; romantic-vulgar paradise; romantic-sexless paradise; fairylike places; utopia
Summary/Abstract: The present article aims to pin down certain aspects of the imagery related to the idea of Paradise in contemporary art. We live in a disenchanted world devoid of transcendental meaning, a world in which we have built, in our own image, our own kitsch, stupid, vulgar, infantile Paradises. Concepts like Paradise, purity and happiness are tainted by a sugary or trivial aura, making it virtually impossible to address them without raising an ironic smile. Hell and its perspective are so much closer! Contemporary art generously reflects ugliness, pornography, the grotesque, the evil, the absurd etc. - all the attributes of the infernal, as being something quite natural. They no longer scandalize, they are no longer shocking; on the contrary, we admire and savor them, snobbishly.

Keywords: cartographic representations; geographical imaginary; imaginary map; spatial drawing
Summary/Abstract: This study will reveal the „in concreto” evolution of cartographic representations, of geographical space, that is. This space illustrates the evolution and becoming of what is referred to as the geographical imaginary. The imagining conscience relies on the geographical imaginary to “complete” the empirical sphere and the perceptive conscience, conjuring mythemes and symbols as archetypal images. It is an iconosphere of cartographic representations, wonderfully entwining the “drawing” of a cogito employing geographical knowledge perpetually augmented with mythemes borrowed by an irrepressible geographical imaginary.

Author(s): Iuliana Nistor –Romanian Academy
Language: English
Subject(s): Fine Arts / Performing Arts, Essay|Book Review |Scientific Life
Keywords: Artist; Audience; Culture; Industry; Society; Masks; Dialogue; Questions
Summary/Abstract: Overtaken with the tide of social reform, we may think about putting on shows of any nature that could bring about substantial financial gain and we neglect the esthetics of the gift that the artist should impart on the public. In spite of all, in my discussions with spectators, I have talked to people who worry about theatre “ modernism” and who can rarely find quality shows in the performance outline of theatres in Bucharest , for the most part. The majority of theatre-going individuals are well-educated intelligent people who have given their open and honest view on their relationship to art, surprisingly profound ones.The idea that we put on commercial shows to satisfy a demand in the public carries in itself a commercial aim and holds no relevance for the above mentioned spectator category: loyal spectators. The general public, target for many pseudo-festivals of theatre is largely made out of occasional spectators who can rarely step out of the box of television watching and who end up in a theatre hall to have fun, under the influence of these subcultural television shows they watch.If contemporary theatre productions are in competition with television shows, there is a fear that in a few years’ time we could end up seeing culinary or publicity performances put on stage. All because it is said that this would be the demand in the general public.One of the painful conclusions I have come to is that some theatre directors or producers are interested solely in earning as much money as possible, investing as little as possible in actors and spending huge amounts of cash in props while giving life on stage to plays taken from the universal drama pool, many of them of a questionable quality.I would suggest the establishment of a union for the audience in each theatre in the country, where people of varied social categories and ages who are interested in theatre and fond of it could be coopted and62consulted in the choice of repertoire. I would wish the union had at least one member who is a theatre college student, a high-school student member, a scientist, a psychologist and an art-therapist. No theatre professionals, directors, press critics or any people employed in any artistic area of the theatre are to be accepted as members. Also I would wish the union to have a saying in the casting of actors in plays. Castings should not be made behind closed doors, in the director’s office, but in an open audition that gives participants equal chances.The actor-artist comes out on stage to perform a piece, then to go back to being part of the audience, spectator and actor of daily life. Likewise, the spectator is part of the audience present at the theatre, then to become himself an actor on the stage of social life. We play both parts, each and every one of us!“The cultural atmosphere of a country is the spirit that society breathes in. The large public does not carry the necessary discerning ability to choose from the pile that assaults the nobility and beauty of superior art. Triviality and pornography instinctively draw out bad tendencies. In the face of society, the artist is responsible much like the priest is. Much more than so , for the gift bestowed upon him is larger…”

Language: English
Subject(s): Fine Arts / Performing Arts, Essay|Book Review |Scientific Life
Keywords: decorative motifs; rosette; palmettes; acanthus; aura; incision; stucco work; clothing; throne
Summary/Abstract: By briefly summarising the tradition of icon decorations in Byzantium, the study sketches the evolution of this procedure in the post-Byzantine epoch, while analysing its specific characteristics until the 17th and 18th centuries, in the Balkan area and Romanian provinces, Moldavia, Wallachia, Transylvania and Banat. The last one, a territory defined by some nuanced evolution during the 18th century, as an imperial province within the borders of the Habsburgic Empire, a territory of cultural and spiritual confluences. From the author’s viewpoint, the deciphering of the icons’ ornamentation represents a useful tool in the theoretical and applied research. If applied to the mobile patrimony in Banat, frequently missing the identifying elements, it can provide information regarding the source of the model, it can approximately indicate the dating of some works, by analogy with some others, which were signed, contributing, in the context of formal analysis, to a better comprehension of the evolution of stylistic options chosen by the limited partners and creators during the „Enlightenment” century.

Subject(s): Fine Arts / Performing Arts, Essay|Book Review |Scientific Life
Keywords: Godowsky; Chopin; left hand; study; piano
Summary/Abstract: The literature for the left hand has a special place in Godowsky’s piano heritage, crowning his creative mastery with his transcriptions of Chopin’s studies. Requiring the most elevated qualities from the virtuoso pianist, they are illustrated by Study no.3 in A minor – first version (op. 10 no. 2) and Study no. 43 in C# minor (op. 25 no. 12). Composer-performer of exceptional value, inspired by Chopin’s studies, the thing that Leopold Godowsky accomplishes with his transcriptions of these for the left hand is to remain in Chopin’s poetic spirit while making a step forward in the development of the piano literature for the left hand.

Summary/Abstract: The category to which we refer has been researched most often through the literary side, the music often being neglected or even considered inferior. On this line emerges George Călinescu’s opinion in the History of Romanian Literature, chapter “Literary Art in Folklore”, related to the “melodic complement of the ballad”, the critic highlighting the “monotony of the musical part, pleasant however to people” and the “melodic performance… superfluous and tedious”. Therefore, we believe it is necessary to bring to light some particularly important musical aspects.

Author(s): Daria Ioan – Babes Bolyai University, Cluj Napoca
Language: English
Subject(s): Fine Arts / Performing Arts, Essay|Book Review |Scientific Life
Keywords: oddity; surrealism; photography; wasteland; perception challenge
Summary/Abstract: Considering Diane Arbus’s images as recipients of a provocative display of grotesque, alienated human realities, we analyze in our paper, the growing familiarity with oddity in modern art, as well as its effects in the development of aesthetic perception. Commenting on Arbus's work as a good example of a leading tendency in capitalist countries, Sontag observes that it reduces moral and sensory queasiness, pointing at America as the grave of the Occident. Using these premises, we discuss photography as a means to challenge materialist civilization by presenting it as a freak show, as a deep wasteland.

The five exhibitions in the Romanian Pavilionfrom Giardini between 1990 and 2000 show a pretty slow route ofofficial policy changes related to the promotion of Romanian artabroad. The exhibitions of the 1990, 1993 and 1995 editions are stillanchored in the tradition of artistic paradigms before 1989, promotinglate modernists discourses of some artists mainly active in the 60s and70s. An orientation towards more experimental approaches shall occurwith the edition from 1997, while the 1999 exhibition, by its strongconceptual component, aligns the Romanian Pavilion along thetendencies of the western art of that moment.

Summary/Abstract: Tapestry has always been closely linked to painting,its compositional evolution being conditioned by discoveries inpainting. Themes addressed were reproduced by tapestry mastersusing silk thread and wool, with the possibilities offered by the fabricstructure combined with the new discoveries in colour chemistry.However, since, from the very beginning, fabric structure had adetermining role in rendering the human figure, because of thenumber of colours, thread interlacing and netting fineness, the naivelook accentuated. With time, the experience of tapestry masters led toconcrete achievements but this aspect closely linked to thediversification of colours and the observance of the cartoon makerpainter’sinstructions has resulted in a decline of the art of tapestry.Everything changed when, at the beginning of the twentieth century,textile artist Jean Lurçat realised which were the big mistakes that ledto this downfall.

Summary/Abstract: This article is about digital art and the ongoing interest towards this technique manifested by Romanian contemporary artists even though a big percentage of the art production in Romania is still very much anchored in the classical art making. This Post Postmodern aspect of artistic production is actually very illustrative for the Romanian contemporary art, which is oscillating between old and new, classical and modern, analog and digital, stating that the almighty power of “copy and paste” becomes useless when dealing with pencil and paper, or when the high-end digitally produced works become ephemeral as opposed to the traditionally hand worked pieces. Furthermore, my intention with the following research is not just to underline the development of digital art in Europe and United States of America in the last decades, but to create a basis of knowledge for my students, as part of a larger study that I previously developed.

Summary/Abstract: In the area of church music, the Reform meant simplification, humanization, by removing most of Gregorian melodies and replacing them with folk songs, transformed in order to serve the church ritual. These transformations, materialized in the Protestant chorale, represented a new stage in music history. This is why we will analyse the significance of chromatic harmony and the technical aspects of chorale harmonization in the works of Johann Sebastian Bach.Only a thorough analysis of Bach’s works in all their realistic aspects can prove that their value and vitality stand in the perfect combination of form and content, reflecting his time.

Subject(s): Fine Arts / Performing Arts, Essay|Book Review |Scientific Life
Keywords: music; musical language; meaning; structure
Summary/Abstract: This paper intends to highlight the relationship between musical meanings and musical structures from a different perspective. For this purpose, a wide range of scholarly opinions and concepts published over several decades were presented and analyzed. The difficulties and challenges of approaching the multiple aspects of this relationship reveal the complexity of the task. The author’s focus is placed on investigating the specificities of the above-mentioned relationship in an attempt to identify the most adequate methods and techniques of analysis. Setting up an analogy with verbal language structures is considered a way of approaching the study of musical structures while considering the specific aspects of the latter. The analogy was extended to the concept of musical meanings whose close correlation with musical structure results in terms of the effects on the listener’s consciousness produced by certain elements of the musical text.

Subject(s): Fine Arts / Performing Arts, Essay|Book Review |Scientific Life
Keywords: sculpture; architecture; archeology; experiment; contemporary; elementary;
Summary/Abstract: This is a presentation that aims to support a study of contemporary built sculpture, seen as experimental architecture that brings to the fore a form of prehistoric habitation and conceptually uses resignified archaeological methods. The essential and elementary plastic structures, the architectural context, the educational discourse, the archaeological methods, the restorer, all conceptually interfere in the creative process of contemporary post-minimal sculpture, of the sculpture as a place. We will soon find out the potentiality of these experimental and utopian manifestations of contemporary sculpture. These cultural positions still retain a significant portion of the modernist legacy: the ethical and aesthetic commitment to the world.

Summary/Abstract: This article aims to discuss issues related to plastic creationsto which "the principle of fertile moment" supported by Lessing isapplied. The German aesthetician considers that a sculptor alwayschooses from a number of points possible for "the on-going" of amovement, that unique moment in which the movement has not yetreached its peak deployment and especially for this reason, lets ourimagination run free. The ancient artist sought to give his art beautyand harmony. It was being sought in particular the decrease of slow,non-harmonic movements, of excessive gesture violence, respectively toalleviate the reflection of a suffering body, simultaneously underliningthose aspects of the figure that by compassion, hope and appreciationwould awaken in the viewer states of multifaceted artistic delight.Rendering the moment rich in meanings can be also seen in thetwentieth century art.

Summary/Abstract: Just as gestures are unrepeatable in painting, so a print executed in the manner of the monotype is unique. Even though many artists who use traditional print techniques in their creation consider that “painting” a plate for later printing is nonsense, I am convinced that this unique combination between painting and printing techniques creates forms and textures impossible to achieve using another technique.The emancipation from the constraints of traditional techniques, and the return to the primary form of art can only be beneficial to the exploration of an inadequately exploited field in our country, professionally speaking.

Keywords: Religious music; Contemporary music; Psalms;
Summary/Abstract: The present paper started from the premise that the composers of classical music in the modern era resorted to religious texts written almost three millennia ago, they discovered their essence, despite the social, territorial, linguistic and, not least, religious changes which occurred throughout history. The meanings of David’s Psalms resonated with modern man, and creators expressed themselves by using the psalmic texts. This prompted us to investigate in more detail the formal archetypes in the musical representations of the plasms. We believe the composers’ choice concerning the musical genres and forms is significant, because they represent the shell of the spiritual universe described in psalmic verses.

Summary/Abstract: Minimalism – as one of the many idioms running through the troubledmodern musical century – was born in the US in the early 60s. Manifest at first in painting and sculpture, this cognitive impulse aims at revolutionizing the visual and the intellect by rediscovering simplicity. Making use of patterns that are accessible although not actually circumscribed to the traditionalist perceptive and reflexive categories, it imagines forms of which ’the material, the structure and the colour’’ are reduced to the ‘’most minimal elements’’1. The term was coined by the Art critic Richard Wollheim (1923 – 2003) who first used it in his essay Minimal Art (1965), where he discusses the necessary conditions for an artefact to become a work of art.

Keywords: wooden churches; iconostasis; icon; restoration; patrimony;
Summary/Abstract: The wooden churches from Bistriţa region, which also include the wooden church of the old monastery from Parva, form a valuable patrimony both on a national and international level. If the monument from Parva had survived, it would have impressed with its equilibrium and the harmony of proportions, it would have been an impressive monument through its simplicity, proof of a constructive tradition practiced for a long time and of a perfect virtuosity of the local artists. Besides the importance of the wooden churches, a very important role is played by the icons, which represent the thesaurus of these churches. The main purpose of this study was determined by the importance of its inclusion within the values’ circuit of the national and European patrimony of several works that are less famous and examined, such as the icons from Bistriţa region, the one from Parva Monastery respectively, created by the local artists during one century and which present a particular interest through their real artistic value. The wish to understand the process of restoration, to know the history and along with it, the story of each piece as individuality is one of the impulses that brought us close to them. In order to establish exactly the materials used for the structure of the icon, to establish the real state of preservation of the pieces and of the causes that led to degradation, we developed an ample and complex investigation. The past becomes present through the objects that are the result of traditions and crafts revived by restorers. The beauty and the diversity of themes, drawing, composition and color of the artists from the past reflect the very life that they led. The approach of this subject is useful now, when we are ready to prove our contribution to the European culture and spirituality, and it would not be appropriate to ignore precisely the Christian values characteristic 12 to our country. And the wooden churches as well as the icons, especially the old ones, represent a rather ignored chapter.

Summary/Abstract: From the ritual of fashion weeks and personal rites of grooming, the mirage of trends and iconic appearances, to fashion theory that offers a generous field of interdisciplinary research, fashion remains the area of greatest interest in both popular culture and intellectual environments. Evolving stunningly between art, design and performance, establishing visual references and cultural connections, fashion outlines a unique, almost surrealistic, space governed by continual change. If the fascination of fashion can be "explained" through a series of rational arguments, to decipher the magic and irrational aura floating around this industry, I propose a multidimensional analysis.

Keywords: sculpture; technique; The modeling; earth; forms; Craiova;
Summary/Abstract: The modeling technique, a classical method necessary for pupils to get acquainted and express themselves in sculpture, requires an absolute working intimacy with the earth element (clay / plastic mud) through the direct contact of man with it in order to give shape to the subject. It is noteworthy that, from this period of Brâncuşi's training at Craiova School of Arts and Crafts, we can observe the pleasure with which he gives the voice to this earth through the busts he made at school during the sculpture classes. The modeling, this technique of continuous addition of shapes, until the artist is satisfied with the similarity and expression with the model, acquires in Brâncuşi's hands those sculptural attributes and valences of expressive forms capable of transmitting an aesthetic emotion. Until the appearance of the sculpture Sleep, which in terms of matter is totally different than the former type of art practiced by Brâncuşi, earthly matter, the clay, was the main means of configuration in sculpture, made by modeling in earth. In the works The Kiss and Wisdom of the Earth, he will abandon modeling in favor of harsh tellurian materials, which even contain the memory of the world, and whom the artist through the new technique bring to profoundly spiritualized forms in which the model disappears, the idea becoming the primary significance.

Summary/Abstract: The correct understanding and knowledge of the expressivedynamic language of a work is a delicate task for the performer due to the subjectivity of the perception of the dynamic parameter and also of the influences of different interpretations. Emphasizing the expression in a work may be possible through the engagement of the entire musical context, through interpretative conduction that must be helped by a focused analysis of the involved elements of expression. The present article is marking important aspects that lead to the formation of the expressiveness of the musical discourse, the ways of accentuating significant musical sounds, the timbral diversity, the dynamic indications used that become an important part in the realization of the emotional path. This research is intended to be a catalyst for the interpreter's desire for knowledge, for decoding the meanings of some indications from the scores, in order to understand the intimacy of a musical composition.

Summary/Abstract: As musicians, we find it beneficial to research the meanings of music as reflected in Patristics. This study is a reminder that music has a divine role, and that it is important to never forget that the sonorous art has always been used as praise. Starting from the importance of music in the Holy Bible, we will discuss the place of music in Patristic texts. For a meaningful musical life, we believe that it is our duty to read and deepen the ideas put forward by the Church Fathers about the way music has to be merged with faith.

Summary/Abstract: Throughout the history of music, the vision of the historicalstylistic perspective of the lyrical and dramatic musical genre has suffered many construction turns, due to various social and political contexts. Thus, opera music develops along with other arts (literature, painting), becoming a language accessible to the masses, and supporting the transposition of the surrounding reality in art. A new music is born, a living music with a substrate embedded in the ordinary, which will be reflected in the work of Georges Bizet and Giacomo Puccini and will serve as a basis for the evolution of opera vocals, giving rise to controversial opera characters, both from the point of view of the vocal score and from the point of view of the psychological and theatrical analysis.

Keywords: neolitic; ceramică; figurină; antropomorf; zeiţă;

Keywords: pedagogie vocală; didactica cântului; tratate de canto, metode teoretico-practice de cânt; tehnică vocală;

Keywords: voce; sistem endocrin; modificări hormonale; mutaţia vocii; sindrom premenstrual; menopauză;

Summary/Abstract: Textul de față reprezintă primul dintr-o serie de patru articole.

Summary/Abstract: In the current socio-cultural background, we can feel an ever-growing enlargement of the range of tools one has available for engaging the demands and the reality of the modern world. Neurodidactics comprises the understanding of behavioural, emotional and cognitive manifestations. It is, therefore, one of the tools through which we try to attract all of the beneficial results attributed to neurosciences, in order to postulate them and to involve them in the didactic teaching and learning processes. This interdisciplinary area therefore attempts to establish some principles and solutions for more efficient means of teaching and learning, which are based on the studies of neurosciences.A brief incursion in this interdisciplinary domain – a concise analysis of its basic principles, of the canons postulated by various specialists in this field is therefore necessary as long as the benefits brought forth by this area of study in the teaching and learning processes have proven to be ever more efficient.

Keywords: condac; imnografie bizantină; melozi;

Alexandra BELIBOU, Petruta Maria COROIU - Transilvania University of Braşov
Abstract: The social and political changes in Poland in the 1980s offered much more freedom to explore spirituality through art. Górecki wanted to reflect his catholic belief in minimalist sonorous creations. His effort to incorporate more folklore materials and religious texts in his musical creation is a conscious attempt to speak directly to the Polish people. Górecki’s music expresses his will to communicate in a Polish voice – dealing with Poland’s problems, rising with dignity above the difficulties of a dark past. Considering this, his work Miserere (1981), opus 44, which is the focus of this paper, must be examined in the context leading to its creation.

STYLISTIC AND INTERPRETATIVE VOICE REFERENCES IN THE WORK OF W.A.MOZART
Edith Georgiana ADETU – Transilvania Univerity Brasov
Abstract: The definition of the opera, framing all its successful ways of expression, represents the incarnation of facts, feelings and characters in history and the human soul. The great musicians of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries perceived the value of this musical genre, frequently approaching it, but very few were those who managed to give emotion at the expense of fame, vibrating alongside the purity of creation. The unity of this genre has allowed the rise of an inner reverberation, a utopian glow, perhaps, populating an entire universe. Therefore, it is easy to understand the difficulty involved in addressing this genre, as well as the triumph of those blessed with the boldness needed for the solemnity of creation.

Abstract. Abigail from Nabucco by Giuseppe Verdi is considered by the majority of musicians and critics a like, as beingone of most difficult and at the same time extremely dangerous roles.
Two of the main reasons why Abigail characterison the list of most difficult vocal roles are: the extremely demanding melodic lines with vocal jumps of up to two octaves and the extreme character and behavior of Abigail. The aggressiveness present in almost every scene, reveal intense intermittent dramatic feelings of rage, jealousy, hate, sadness, mean joy and despair.

MUSICAL CREATION BETWEEN ARCHETYPE, TRADITION AND CONTEMPORANEITY MAIN STRATEGIES IN COMPOSITION TOWARDS ARCHETYPAL TRANS-REALISM- Part 1
Mihaela VOSGANIAN – National University of Music Bucharest
Abstract. This study is dedicated to my main strategies in composition related to the correlation with the idea of tradition towards the new aesthetic that I founded and I called the Archetypal Trans-Realism.
The introduction gives an overview on Romanian composers and their folklore-oriented works (from George Enescu onwards). The paper focuses on three personal directions in composition, namely: 1. exploring traditional resources (both Romanian and universal), 2. archetypal and spiritual multi-level approachand 3. archetypal trans-realism.
The study centres on some of my related works – the ongoing cycle-Interferences, the pieces involving a spiritual approach – the oratorio Jesus with a Thousand Arms or The Path of the Human Angel (dramatic or orchestral version) and four of the trans-real syncretic works–Dynamic Meditation,White Lady’s Power Places, the opera The Dreamer Awake and the Shamanic Prologue.
This study is a guide for soloists and performers in generalto a new aesthetic orientation, the archetypal trans-realism, which offers a perspective on discovering the potential of artas a source of self-development and spiritual growth.
